So you may or may not have heard the news that Chrissy helped a fan/aspiring beauty student to pay her tuition. Thanks to TheShadeRoom for that article! I went ahead and asked the girl, her name is Mercedes, if she wanted to share her story with me on my fansite. So here is what she sent to me:

Hi! My name is Mercedes Edney and I am born and raised from St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. I reside in Charlotte, NC. I own and run Ixora Botanical Beauty which is a skin care company that I make everything myself. I have been in the skin care business for 5 years. About a year ago I decided I wanted to attend esthetician school, but at the time I couldn’t because of my work schedule. When I was able to this year, I started this fund to help me pay tuition because the school didn’t offer it and esthetician scholarships normally require you to already be enrolled or halfway through the program. I started the fundraiser 3/9 and I would post the link regularly on my social media pages asking for donations. I randomly posted it last night while I was at work and a couple minutes later I saw a paypal notification and looked at my phone and saw $5605 on my screen and I really thought Paypal was glitching. There was no way somebody was placing an order that size. So I and look at my email and see it came from my fundraiser and I LOST IT. I hadn’t even realized yet that it was Chrissy Teigen who donated. It was somebody else who saw it and screenshotted it and showed it to me. By that point I was on the phone hysterically crying with my mom trying to tell her what happened.

We follow each other on twitter, but I never knew she ever noticed me talk about my products or skin care. To know that she had noticed and blessed me in such a manner has made me eternally grateful. She has no idea what a difference she just made in my life.
