Her father, Ron Teigen sr., is an American of Norwegian descent and her mother, Vilailuck Teigen, is Thai. Teigen’s father worked as an electrician, and the family moved often. After living in Hawaii, Idaho, and Snohomish, Washington, the family settled in Huntington Beach, California, when Teigen was a teenager. She was discovered by a photographer while working in a surf shop.

Teigen married singer John Legend on September 14, 2013 in Como, Italy. Legend proposed to Teigen in December 2011, after four years of dating, having first met on the set of his 2007 music video for “Stereo”. The song “All of Me” is dedicated to her. On October 12, 2015, Teigen announced that she and Legend were expecting their first child, a daughter, conceived through in vitro fertilization. Their daughter, Luna Simone Stephens, was born on April 14th 2016.In November 2017 Chrissy announced that she was pregnant with baby number 2, a little boy. Miles Theodore Stephens was born on May 16th 2018. In summer 2020 they announced their third pregnancy with John’s music video Wild. Sadly the little boy, who they called Jack, didn’t make it. Chrissy suffered a stillbirth in autumn 2020. In summer 2022 they announced a new pregnancy and Chrissy gave birth to a girl on January 13th 2023, she’s called Esti Maxine Stephens. And to complete the family Wren Alexander Stephens was born on June 19th 2023 via surrogacy.
